12th day.....what Do we have today?!!!!!

How are you today? How did you find today’s trips?

Tiring?!!… Fun?!!

Well, today we went to PSN (PUSAT SAINS NEGARA) which is a science museum in KL, Malaysia.

This learning trip was full of learning and fun. Let me share with you some things I like and I still remember from there.

Have you ever heard about “Leaf insect”?!! me myself, I never did. However, when I went to PSN I saw it there. I saw a green insect looks like the leaf. It was so cut. Was not it, Mr. Thirun??

** Leaf insect can be in many colors depends on the environment. Its life span is 6-18 months.

** Green Mantis/ Green Asian Mantis. Its life span is 9 months to 1year. It eats other insects. The female is known to bite the male’s head and eat him. The type exit in Thailand catch small gecko.

At PSN, hibiscus flowers are constantly spray with sugar solution (20% sugar & 80%water)
As food for adult butter flies in case there is shortage of natural nectar from living flowers.

The yellow bird wings.

**Ostrich: the male is bigger than the female. It is the second fastest animal in the world after the Cheetah. It’s speed 75 Km/h in 2 seconds. It can maintain about 30 minutes.
From this pint I went to search the net about fastest animals in the world. Let me share with you the 5 top fastest animal in the world.

1. Cheetah speed 70 m.p.h.
2. Pronghorn antelope: 61 m.p.h.
3. Lion: 50 m.p.h.
4. Wildebeest 50 m.p.h.
5. Thomson's gazelle: 50 m.p.h.

KL population is 4 million during the day and 2 million during the night.
The 2 millions are working at KL but not living there.

Thailand’s population is 65million…..waw and waw!!!


Have you ever asked yourself why the water of the sea does not spell out of the earth?

Simply, that is never happened because of the gravity.
By the way, out the earth, I mean by that is the space, there is not gravity.

I have tried to play the angular momentum. Which has a special shape and way to fly it and it comes back to you.

That happen because by the way we use we let it gain momentum. Enjoyable!!

At the end of the day, I can say the differences between National science centre and Petrosains are that Petrosains focus on the science related to Oil & Gas since its under Petronas company which Oil & Gas Company. However, the national science is general. It consists of all science. Simply I can say science related to Oil & Gas is part of the national science while Petrosains is all about what relates to Oil & Gas.

After that we went to the ASTRO in KL, Malaysia. It got 5 satellites.
We enjoyed taking pictures and watch the announcer in the radio in a real as you can see in the picture. This announcer speaks so fast and even with us. His communication skills is so high as he works there for years. Really nice!!1

We need to improve our communication skills too…

Waw…There are many and many things to learn. I enjoyed the trip today and more fun is in the way as I see.

Facts from Week (1),

What did we learn in the first week guys? Do you still remember?!!! Let me share with you what did I learned and I experienced during the first week at Petrosains involving in PETROSAINS-UTP Science Communication Program.

1) Build simply a very strong structure from newspapers and it should stand when you throw it from 6 feet height.>> Concept behind it is… ice-breaking. My point of views, you can reach your goal from whatever you have. NEVER, say “impossible.”

2) Wherever you are, you should know what to do in case of emergency. Please, ask yourself this question, can I use the Extinguisher fire. Do you know what do to do in case of earthquake? If you know that would be good. If not, please go and try to find it out. DO SEARCH or ask to know what you do not know. It is important facts for you and every one.

Break:

To be played with a group of people. It starts with organizing the group member as a circle. Now let’s start the game, one member of the group starts to say big fish and show by his hands small fish. He says differently than what he shows. The one beside him will say small fish and shows big fish and so on. If some one said the same thing the one before him said so the game will reverse to the other direction. Play it in fast and any one does mistakes, he should go out till the last one who is going to be the winner.

Have fun playing it.

2) As a member of an operation department:

2.1 Always, greet and welcome your customers.
2.2 deal with different people in different ways.
2.3 Get customers’ feedback.

Let me ask you a question. Let’s say that you work in an operation department. Your department is to receive customers’ items such as letters. One of the customers has collected his item and then he/ she said he/she did not collect it. What you are going to do at that time?

Basically, you can show the customer the recorder which shows he/she has collected the item. Let his/her fill up a feedback form. Deal with your customer in a proper way and always be calm informant of them. 2.4 Do you know how to be professional?!! Master your job. 2.5 Have the power of three to master your job. Have you ever heard about “Power of three.”? Power of three is: power of attract, power of hold and power of communicate.

3) There are 3 science shows and 6 mini shows at Petrosains.

4) The discovery center at Petrosains defines program as in rich and out rich. In rich is the activities done inside Petrosains while out rich is the activities done out side Petrosains. This department organizes the activities and the shows for those people can not come to KLCC to visit Petrosains. I like this, because there are people in different cities are not able to come to Petrosains and see the shows. So that Petrosains eases it and go to them.

5) The difference between Research and Evaluate(R&E)? In which depends on the context.
6) The role of Creativity in R&E has a value.
7) We can be creative. Creativity is not some thing you born with.
8) The creative is consist of SEEING what everyone else has seen, THINKING what no one else has thought, and DOING what no one else has dared!

9) A talent and thus, effortless is NOT creativity.

10) Lateral thinking is when there are many answers of a problem.

11) Ways to measure creativity: -originality - Intellectual leadership. - Sensitivity - Ingenuity - Unusualness

12) To the creative mind, the world is a wonderland of possibilities!

13) Let us do this test to our mind. Try to say fast and a bit loud the color othe following words:

14) We will find it difficult to differentiate the words and the colours because we are trained to be logic-oriented.

17) Balloon. You know that we can pass a … throw a balloon without pop it. Simply this can happen by choosing the right point to pass the through it which is either at the top of it or at the bottom where there the stress is less.

MoNDaY's CuLtUre ShOw...

salam alikum and heelo to all.

Today was a tiring day and also an enjoyable day. we just had one activity to do today which was culture show. My friends and I who are joining Petrosains Communication Program did culture show either dance, song or sketch.

On Sunday we were doing the rehearsal for the show and I kept the night a wake preparing for the show. I was doing “biscuits with chocolates”; which is a kind of sweet for the audience; as well. Rather than that, we woke up next morning so early for the full rehearsal at 8:00am. I was so sleepy. And here is the challenge; I had to check on others as a leader. However, I do not think I did as I used to do. I check on my housemates and not the others in the other apartment. I forgot to tell you that we are 10 girls joining the program each 5 of us in an apartment.
So I just check on them at last moments we had before we go. We reached there after 8:00am which means we were late. I did not like us being late this morning even thought miss. Jin and other were late too.

We started our rehearsal and finish it at around 9:30am. We then we start directly the show. It was great knowing about other’s cultures or even watching different shows from different cultures.

You know, for the first time I wore my hometown traditional clothe. I did wear my traditional clothe for the show. and I went up on the stage.

New experience!!

Moreover, it was my second time I go out to the street with wearing my abayia”the black address”. First time I did it in my university and second time was this morning.

I had to wear Petrosains t-shirt and when I tried with the abyyia it did not match. So that I put on long sleeves t-shirt, long skirt and Petrosains t-shirt.

Before I end up I want to tell you that, the audience liked my chocolate, and as I promised my friends to do some again for them I want to tell you I didn’t forget and ill try to find the suitable time for that.

I got to gow now to sleep and prepare for tomorrow when we are going to wake up so early to be there at the program place by 8:00am.

Salam alikum and hello all friends.

How are all? Sorry my friends, I couldn’t write in the blog last few days for dome reasons.

Any way, today I will share with you my experiences of the last days that I could not manage to write about.

Thursday was my forth day being here at KL joining Petrosains communication program.
After getting ready and after having breakfast we went to start our day. It was full of science communication learning this time. We had “spinning a top” activity which held by Mr. jemy. Thank you Mr. jemy for sharing your experiences with us. We learn many science communication concepts from you.
Let me tell you the process of this activity. We went through 3 stations doing an experiment. Each of them had its own approach as it was discussed at the end after doing the experiment. These approaches purposely have physics facts to discover. And now I will tell u what did we do?

Station (1), we have been divided into groups. Each of which is consist of 2 people. We had some materials as spindle tip, surfaces of different materials, rubber and other things. With all these things we should make a spinning top. No instructions to follow in this station. There was no discussion about what we discovered.

Station (2), at this station we had instructions to follow in order to do the experiment.
At this station we almost discovered how to make the top spins faster. As I see, It is a preparation step for stations (3).

Station (3), we provided with many stationeries and with different materials so that we could do the experiment many times in different ways. I my self tried many times with different surfaces trying to see the difference, with which surface the top is faster and why?
This station was different because it had the longest time and we did the experiment individually.

Last but not least, we ended up this activity with discussing what we found out through the stations and here we got the key concept in the science of Tops.

Next activity was “the sky bridge tour”. Waw, was great. When I saw the world from up I found that life from up its so beautiful, so great and so sweet. However, to see that u MUST do a lot. Put a lot of effort. I always believe that as we say in Arabic “الحياه حلوه بس نفهمها” which means, life is so beautiful if and only if we could understand it and as my friend told me, to live the life we should live it and love it, isn’t it true?

Life is life never change. Life is the same; it is just us who change. So from up, I found that no thing is impossible. It may be hard but never impossible. We need to work, work and work to give and show the next generation the best we have done and let them go and continue the line of our working and see the great world around us as well as to keep our earth in the best and for the best.

I took a brochure with me about KLCC to read for more information. Actually I just started reading it but not finished yet.

Did I tell u before that KLCC does not consider as the tallest building in the world now. Just for your information, It was the tallest but now it is the second tallest after ….in china. And soon will be the third and ….in china the second after the “borg” comes up in Dubai.


Any way, we didn’t forget the pictures time. We took so nice pictures there, either individually or group picture. It was fun too.
By finishing this session we went back to the ZONE…It is the hotel at where we are staying. We had our reflection there at the hotel in which we had a surprise. Well, one of the guys whose name is Yosry and I knew about it, but not my friends. We got half of our allowance.

Do you wonders about why just two of us knew about it but not my friends? Because we should knew about it. WHY??!

Well, I think I didn’t mention to u that before, Yosry and I are the leaders. He is the leader of the guys while I am the leader of the girls. It is a very big responsibility. I did not think it is going to be as it is now. However, it is a great experience and big challenge.

It is my first step to gain the characters and the abilities of the leadership. I always consider others, thinking about them and their needs as well as how to manage situations in case having a problem. I am trying to be as their sister and as their friend before being their leader. As I see, being as your members’ sister/brother and friend before being their leader is one of the best characters you should have as a leader. They feel free talking to you at any time or need, respect you, and also inform you about the things they are going to do.

Now, I am trying to make them respect the time and that is by being on time. What I meant is that, so far we used to go to Petrosains; where the program is; a bit later than the time in the program schedule we have. The challenge now is to be on time by training them step by step. I just hope to get the challenge successfully by next week.


Although it is a lot to tell and share with you my experiences I will keep doing that day after day.

Here I stop with you a bout Thursday and ill tell you about Friday day next time. Ok??!!

3rd day

how are u all doing?


actually i feel tird and need to have sleep enough for tomorrow's activities, the fourth day of the program. so i wont type much and the details about today. i would say that my day was great and fun.

i really appreciate every body involved in this program Petrosains science communication program and appreciate more the manager of it. he is really well managing the program. thank you MR.FAEZ and all th best for th rest of the program. Insha-allah this program will be a successful program.

how are you friends and how are you doing??? Slept well, had breakfast (Especially my darling ladies.)???

Now, let me tell u about yesterday, my second day here in Petroscience communication program. It was waaw. I enjoyed more than the first day and as I think ill enjoy today more and more….


Every new day the sun rises with its full surprises.


We started our day with a talk from MS. Rieza. She nicely briefs us about how to serve ur customers, greet them, smile to them and even though how to deal with different people in different ways… she was really good explaining to us what we needed to know. We had fun during the briefing when we shared together knowing about different cultures and how to greet in these different cultures.

Ohhh. One thing I forgot to tell about it happened to me during the briefing.I think every one of us knows it, right?????? so need to type it here. just telling u that it was terrible. I felt so embarrassed and my hands were really cold.

At the end of the briefing we have been asked that who can stand and say the names of every one in the floor. I was one of the three standed and did it. MS.Rieza still owes us some thing as a gift for doing that. I am waiting lah Ms. Rieza.

After that we had our break for around 15 minutes. Then we went to the second talk of the day with MR. Saif. It was nice too when he showed us new things.

Lunch times came at 1 pm. I went back, cooked for lunch in fast “no need to tell u what I did cook…worry if u ask me to let u taste my food” after having lunch I went with the other friends to Petrosains back to the program.

Started at 2 pm we had the tour around Petrosains. We had tried every thing were there and we toooooooooook many pictures, which I like so much.

Finally, we went back to the hotel to rest and enjoy the rest of the day.

Was fun, right??!!

First Day....mmmmmmmmmm

Salam Alekum and hello to eVeRy BoDy…..

4th of December is my first day of Petrosains UTP Science Communication Program. It was a nice and an interesting day. I enjoyed the activities and the briefings involved. I got learned many things out of them. It’s true that I get bored listening to briefings that takes long and today I could stand them except last briefing and last session for the day which was the Safety & Security TAlk. I was feeling sleepy as others were. It was even longer than it is because of tiredness.

The most activity I enjoyed was ice breaking session where my group won the first place for the structure we built. NOW, I can say I am proud of my group "E_OIL" group. Thanks to all my group members for corporation and CONGRATULATION the price. I also want to say Congratulation to all friends for passing the challenge and winning the time that they enjoyed and learned from as well as the friends.

Then to Col Talk with MR. JAMMY for the session he gave us. It was beneficial and fun. It was really good experience to gain.


Last but not least, I would like to thank all those work for this project and I really hope all go on successfully and as planned.
